Why I Choose to Compete, and No it’s Not For Attention

So I'm doing another show. It is a hard but rewarding process. It will be my second show and I love it for so many reasons. I believe this time around might be a little easier because I know what to expect, but time will tell. Competing is a sacrifice for sure. There are long hours in the gym that cannot be missed, serious preplanned meals, and of course going out to eat or missing a meal is a definite no no. It takes the support of my whole family for me to be able to do this process, and … [Read more...]

At Home Plyo Workout

I am officially starting my prep season. I try to fluctuate training styles throughout the year, and during prep it changes a lot. I am adding in a Plyo day. There is something spectacular about being able to do these days at home in the morning, and being done for the day in 30 mins or less. I am very consistent with rest time by only taking 30 seconds in between sets to keep my heart rate up. Through my prep season I will be fluctuating rest times and working times to change the … [Read more...]

Honestly, a lot of it is really bad information out there. Which makes it hard to sort through. So I wanted to lay out some simple tips that I hope will be helpful. Take ownership of your nutrition. Have you ever heard that saying "give a man a fish, feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, feed him for a lifetime." Well … [Read more...]

Chicken Tenders with Low Sugar BBQ Sauce

I had someone ask me the other day how I balance my diet with my family's eating habits. Well, my kids are kids. They like PB & J, pizza, and chicken nuggets just like every other American kid. They are not on a diet, nor should they be. I do believe in balance in my own life and my families lives. I try to help my kids get a balance of foods they like with new healthier options to try. I want them to learn to branch out, and get the idea that sometimes we eat food because it is … [Read more...]

Fitness On the Rocks: Feels like Home

A few weeks ago I got to participate in the Fitness on the Rocks. It's an outdoor fitness extravaganza with multiple workouts, small and large group sessions, exhibits, vendors, music and all out fun. It really was an awesome day, and I'm slightly embarrassed to say it was my first time ever to the red rocks amphitheater which was an absolutely breathtaking view. Last year I was planning to go but blew my knee out about 2 weeks before the event, so needless to say I missed it. This year … [Read more...]
