Protein Cinnamon Buns

These were so awesome, and definitely satisfied that sweet tooth craving. Cinnamon buns made with no sugar, lots of protein and taste great. A guilt free treat at only 210 calories per bun…sign me up!

First I got a big bowl and mixed up ALL of the ingredients into a dough. Then I rolled out the dough until it was about 1/4 inch thick and cut long strips about 1 inch in width.

Sprinkle the strips with LOTS of cinnamon, and roll up. Spray a pan with cooking spray and place the rolled up buns on the pan. Make sure to separate them enough because they will get a little bit bigger.

I cooked the rolls in the oven at 400 degrees, and for 20 mins. The outside of the rolls weren’t crispy but starting to get a little firm on the outside. If you take them out too soon, the inside of the roll will still be doughy.

Once I took these out of the oven, I had two sauces I put on them. I used a vanilla “icing” on top of each rolls, and about 2-3 tbsp sugar free maple syrup and poured over the top. Then sprinkled with chopped walnuts or pecans. I used pecans here.

The “icing” was 3 Tbps of the whipped Greek yogurt/cream cheese, vanilla extract, and stevia. I mixed it in a bowl and softened it in the microwave for about 20 seconds. If you don’t have the Greek yogurt/cream cheese mix at your grocery store you can use a substitute the icing by using 1 scoop of vanilla protein powder with 1-2 tbsp of water to make a thick vanilla  sauce.

Split the icing evenly over the sticky buns. Sprinkle on a little more cinnamon, because hey why not, right! And top it with some chopped walnuts or pecans.

Then all that’s left to do is enjoy these bad boys! Such a great sweet tooth fix! This recipe made about 6 rolls at 210 calories each. These are the perfect pre-workouts breakfast! Hope you like them too. Here is all the ingredients and nutritional information.
