DIY sweaty bands are super easy to make and they stay in place during your entire work out…seriously!  I’m going to take you through the steps to make them yourself. It is super easy!

Materials

Ribbon -in any color or thickness you like

Velvet ribbon- to match the thickness of top ribbon

Matching thread

black elastic (you can buy at any fabric department)

Directions

1) cut ribbon and velvet 18″ long.  Cut black elastic about 4 inches long, allowing some room for excess once you fit your head.

2) Lay Ribbon “right side” up, place the elastic on top of ribbon, and finally the velvet soft side down towards the ribbon.  Pin together.

3) sew the end.  I normally do a forward and back straight stitch to give it some extra hold.

4) Pull ribbon and velvet back from elastic.  Now the back side of the ribbon and velvet should be touching.  Keep in mind that the soft part of the velvet is what should be touching your head and what keeps it in place.

5) Fold other end of the ribbon and velvet into each other to make a seem, and pin.  Hold the sweaty band to your head while pulling on sew in elastic side to see how tight you want it, and estimate where you need to sew the elastic into place.

6) Sew last end seam, and cut off excess elastic.

8) Cut off all excess threads, and voila your own sweaty band!
